How bandwidth usage are calculated
Your bandwidth usage is based on the highest value of either your inbound or outbound traffic. For instance, if your server uses 100 GB of incoming bandwidth and 200 GB outgoing bandwidth, your utilization for eventual billing would be 200 GB. Traffic over the private networking interface (used within the same data center) has no impact on your monthly cap.
How much overage bandwidth cost
Bandwidth usage in excess of a server allocation limit is charged at $0.02 per GB in North American and Western European locations. Due to higher regional costs, Singapore and Tokyo - Japan overage is priced at $0.05 per GB and Sydney - Australia overage is priced at $0.10 per GB.
Montly bandwidth overage on a hourly server
If your plan has 1000 GB allocated to it, the amount of data transfer per hour for overage calculations is 1000 / 730 = 1.37GB/hour. This means your pending charges will reflect the overage calculated by this formula. In some cases, it may even be less expensive to leave your server running than to destroy it and be assessed overage charges.
All servers are protected from DDoS attacks up to 40Gbps on data center level. For additional protection, individual servers can be null routed in order to protect other servers in the same data canter. At limited locations, we offer dedicated on-site DDoS protection between 10Gbps to 100Gbps for an additional monthly fee of $10, to ensure that your servers stay up even during major DDoS attacks.
